Your post confuses me though. You mention wanting to go smaller but then you say "I've heard some things about turbulence and stuff with too small of downpipes". Did you mean to say too LARGE of downpipe? If so, that is accurate...you don't get more turbulence from smaller piping...at least not usually (for those of you knit pickers, I know it IS possible on some cars/setups to get turbulence with smaller pipes, but we're talking about Z cars with stock pipes/turbos to start). Truth be told, 2.25" pipe would probably be fine on a mildly modified Z car with downpipes and test pipes but there are two things with this: 1) It has been proven both on a dyno and by many others in the seat of the pants that 2.5" TP/DPs are just fine, decrease lag and increase power. 2) Even if you wanted 2.25" DPs, there aren't many people that make them (if any at all as I have not seen any). I can't think of one logical reason to try to get 2.25" downpipes at all. Is there more you want to know about how they work or anything? I'll help out any way I can :)
